It all came together at the 2023 Cannes International Boat and Yacht Show when Brunswick Corporation unveiled its newest boat brand, Navan by Quicksilver. It revealed its first two models – the C30 and S30. Then in November 2024, Brunswick introduced Navan and its same two models to the North American market at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.

Just looking at these two models you know immediately they are different from the majority of 30-footers on the market today. There is strong European influence in their design and execution. Both models utilize the same hull and are essentially identical from the windshield forward, both above deck and below deck. The C30 (Cabin) has an enclosed helm and salon with bulkhead door to the stern, while the S30 (Sport) has an open helm and cockpit.

The hull is quite different than most 30-foot overnight pleasure boats in several respects. You will notice immediately that the hull has a near-vertical stem like many new European-influenced day boats and cruisers. That design feature not only increases the waterline length, it also softens the hull’s entrance into heavy seas. It even results in increased interior space.

These hulls also sport a forward angled lower stem to help break up the bow wave and streamline the waterflow around the hull. Another different hull feature is the fact that the deep-vee hull not only has a keel-pad but is double-stepped. Not a single step, but a double-step. As seen in almost all offshore high performance boats, it introduces air to the hull bottom to break the surface tension of the water from the smooth hull bottom. In turn, this reduces drag and increases speed, efficiency, and performance. Navan has patented this as its T-Step Hull design.

The S30 is, in essence, a center console design with companionway access between bow and stern on both sides of the helm console. Forward of the console in the bow area is a double-wide forward sun lounge with adjustable backrests. Up front is a foredeck anchor and rope locker.

Black bow rails extend forward on each gunnel from opposite the helm station to the bow where, in typical European fashion ingress and egress is often over the bow, the bow rails end just short of the bow to leave an opening. This open bow section is also great for aiding in anchoring. An extra high bow rail section on each side assists in providing a hand hold when standing.

Dual high-back helm chairs with side bolstering and forward flip-up bolsters face a practical helm console with a custom tilt steering wheel with standard hydraulic steering. The driver’s position is on the port side. A Simrad NSX 12-inch flush-mount GPS/chartplotter screen is standard. The helm features digital DC switching, a 12-volt power outlet, and twin USB charging ports, a wireless charging platform, and the control heads for both the Zipwake 600 Dynamic Trim control and the Fusion MS-RA770 Apollo stereo which feeds four speakers.

A sliding door on the starboard side of the helm leads to the V-berth cabin below. This cabin features comfortable sleeping for two with storage beneath the berth cushions. Natural lighting is supplied by long horizontal hull side windows plus an overhead hatch and skylight. Lighting is also supplied by overhead reading and cabin lighting plus integrated LED lighting within the stylish headliner. A separate head compartment offers an electric flush toilet, a vanity with storage and large vessel sink, plus opening portlights.

Aft of the helm console and helm chairs is a forward-facing passenger bench seat mounted on a molded storage compartment. This unique seat uses articulated support brackets that allow pivoting on itself to face the stern. In this position it creates a conversation area with the transom-mounted stern bench seat, which itself has padded armrests, drink holders, and storage beneath the cushions.

A starboard side transom walk-thru door leads to the integrated swim platform. A telescoping boarding ladder is stored beneath the starboard side extension. A dockside water inlet is standard, as is a pullout cockpit cold water shower, a flag holder with flag pole, and LED courtesy lighting throughout.

Navan has supplied an extensive list of optional equipment that allows you to personalize your boat to complement and enhance your boating lifestyle. First on almost anyone’s list will be the fiberglass hardtop which amazingly is removable. This T-Top is available in ether white or gray and comes with translucent skylight panels. Your colour choice for the T-Top may depend on whether you remain with the standard white hull sides or choose the available gray hull bottom with gold boot stripe, or gray hull sides and bottom with gold boot stripe.

You may also want to choose the Smart Edition Package which includes dual shore power inlets, dual cockpit 20 L drawer refrigerators built into the cabinet beneath the passenger pivoting bench seat, on board hot water system, portable folding real teak stern cockpit table, forward cabin curtains, and a mooring package including fenders. Another attractive option is the prep station galley unit built into the the storage compartment beneath the passenger pivoting bench seat. It includes a top-loading ice box, deep sink with faucet, and a DC or AC electric grill.

Cabin air conditioning may be had via 12-volt DC with a separate battery bank or strictly from AC shore power when docked. On the other hand, you may choose both heating and air conditioning from shore power and batteries. A separate diesel heater is also available. Other available optional equipment includes a bow anchor roller, electric anchor windlass, bow thruster, and a bow sprit (platform) mounted ahead of the anchor locker.

In the forward cabin you may want floor carpet, foredeck hatch cover with screen, hot water shower in the head compartment, and a cabin television with DVD player, USB and HDMI inputs. At the helm you may want dual 9” or 12” Simrad NSX flush-mounted GPS/chartplotter screens, Simrad RS20 VHF radio, Simrad HALO20+ radar, DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) stereo kit with antenna, and a stereo upgrade with subwoofer and additional speakers.

GatorStep non-skid deck flooring in Butter Rum/Espresso would add safety, comfort, and style. A raised ski-tow arch would be great for watersports and you may also choose pop-up cleats, underwater lighting, a cockpit sun lounge, and portable bow and cockpit sun awnings. An electric transom-mounted windlass would be most helpful when towing a dinghy or for a stern anchor. You may choose four aft-mounted rocket-launcher style rod holders for the T-Top plus a forward-mounted LED spotlight. Individual canvas covers are available for the helm, helm seats, stern seat, prep centre, and bow sun lounge and/or enclosed canvas and/or sprayhood.

Both Navan models offer single or twin Mercury outboard power up to 600 horsepower total. You may choose from a single Mercury 300 V-8, 400 V-10, twin 225 V-6’s, or twin 250 or 300 V-8 Verados. The highly recommended JPO (Joystick Piloting for Outboards) which just added exciting new features is available for most outboard engine choices.

These brand new Navan C30 and S30 models offer exciting new designs and upscale execution to the overnight cruiser market in North America. Check them out whenever you next get the opportunity.
