Dragons were designed in 1929 by Johan Anker in Norway. Widely popular in Europe they became an Olympic Class from 1948-1972. Currently the largest one-design fleet in the world. Vancouver only has a dozen or so Dragons.
This is one of the newest Dragons in BC – a 1993 model built in Hong Kong by renowned Dragon builder Lowell Chang. Named “Bamboo Man” she was an award winning boat in Hong Kong & is mentioned in the 75th Dragon anniversary hard back book. In 2003 she was shipped to Vancouver & dry-stored, sailed & raced locally.
