A unique opportunity for a one-of-a-kind vessel with exciting local heritage!


"SOTERIA" is a 1969 Alcan Aluminium vessel was commissioned for the Department of Fisheries & Oceans (Coast Guard) and served proudly on the great lakes (based out of Burlington). In 1989 it was pulled out for a refit, which is when the upper wheelhouse was added, new larger diesel tanks were installed, and the old inboard shaft drives were replaced with twin Volvo Penta diesel engines with Volvo SP outdrives. The vessel was sold in 2004 at auction to a company in Ottawa that runs tour boats, intended as a work/ transport boat. Enjoyed sporadically, it was often stored at the companies property in Rockland and was put in for a few days each year to run it up, and then pulled out and re-winterized.


In 2020, the current owners bought it from that company with plans to refit it into use as a recreational boat. A head was re-installed along with a pullout couch and a galley with twin fridge/freezers. The electrical components were all replaced/updated and a storage area under the wheelhouse was converted into a small berth. All instruments and the console were replaced in 2020 along with a new Raymarine radar, chartplotter, GPS, compass and VHF radio. The interior was completely refitted, replacing the plywood floor, marine carpet, new galley, new head with macerator toilet, and a small berth was made out of previous storage lockers. Twin AC/DC fridge/freezers were installed in the galley. All 12v and 24v batteries were replaced and new breaker panels were installed. The work deck had custom bench seats installed in 2021 along with a custom step to access the rear deck.A recent survey (2024) is available with conditional purchase offers.
