Regal’s newest yacht, the 38 Grande Coupe, follows the style and layout of its successful bigger sister the 42 Grande Coupe and Flybridge.

Once you board the 38 Grande Coupe via the extra large integrated swim platform with its recessed four-step swim ladder and have ascended to the cockpit, you will see how spacious, bright, and wide open this yacht is from the back of the cockpit through to the front of the salon.

The cockpit and salon are all one level and when the sliding glass entry door is opened and the portside window electrically retracted, the main deck becomes essentially one large entertaining/relaxation space. The high one-piece windshield with almost full surrounding side windows provide natural lighting throughout. The electric hardtop sunroof and sliding salon side windows all offer natural ventilation. The extended hardtop eyebrow adds weather protection over a good portion of the cockpit.

L-shaped seating with storage fills the transom and starboard side of the cockpit, while a refreshment centre with standard smokeless electric grill extends the portside salon galley countertop through to the cockpit when the separating window is retracted. A cockpit starboard side removable seat cushion reveals step-up dockside boarding access.

Seagrass flooring is standard in the cockpit as is a day access hatch within the larger electric engine room hatch. An optional television with BluRay is retractable from within the aft hardtop and can be viewed from the cockpit seating.

Once in the salon with its Amtico flooring, the port side L-shaped galley is equipped with a sink, two-burner glasstop stove, large drawer refrigerator and separate freezer, plus a microwave within the upper level storage cabinet. Filling the starboard side immediately aft of the double-wide helm seat is a sofa, above which is a fold-down television with BluRay. This television faces the portside L-shaped settee, which becomes a dinette with the optional table. Salon blinds provide privacy while dimmable indirect lighting provides relaxing atmosphere.

The helm features a hand-wrapped dash and steering wheel, standard Garmin 16-inch fully customizable Glass Cockpit, Garmin VHF, Volvo keyless ignition, joystick steering control, cruise control, and autopilot. A pair of windshield wipers with washers is standard, as is a helm seat flip-up bolster, footrest, and flip-down floor platform. A spotlight is standard, as are trim tabs with indicators, an anchor windlass with rope and chain, and a stainless claw anchor.

A few steps down through pocket-style privacy doors reveals the forward stateroom with standard height full size Olympic pedestal queen bed and innerspring mattress with storage beneath. There are two large drawers at the foot of the bed, plus a cedar-lined hanging locker with more drawers below. The stateroom has its own 32-inch television with BluRay and DVD player.

Immediately aft of the stateroom is the head with toilet, glass vessel sink and vanity to starboard and a separate shower room to port with teak flooring and seat. Moving aft leads to the master stateroom with its convertible standalone king size bed and upholstered headboard, which includes storage and an innerspring mattresses that can easily be separated into twin beds. A cedar-lined hanging locker is provided with drawers below plus dresser storage and a stretch-out sofa/settee to port with storage beneath. A 32-inch television with BluRay and DVD player on an adjustable bracket serves this stateroom.

Other notable standard equipment on the 38 Grande Coupe includes three air conditioning/heater units, an 11 KW Kohler generator, dual bow chaise loungers and sunpad with cover, a second forward flip-up seatback section, freshwater washdown, foredeck speakers with remote stereo control, transom storage locker, single 50 amp shorepower on electric retracting reel, battery charger, dockside water inlet with onboard freshwater tank fill valve, underwater lighting, and a stereo performance package.

Standard power is from twin Volvo V8 380 (hp) EVC (Electronic Vessel Control) with DuoProp sterndrives and joystick control. This can be upgraded to twin 430 horsepower or twin D4 Diesel 300 horsepower sterndrives. Notable optional equipment includes Seakeeper 3 stabilization system, bow thruster, central vac, aft stateroom privacy door, cockpit Isinglass or Palm Beach enclosure, foredeck cabana sunshade, cockpit table, cockpit refrigerator, SeaDek flooring in cockpit and/or swim platform, underwater PowerPlatform, wireless remote for windlass, dual 12-inch Glass Cockpit screens, satellite television and/or stereo, and radar.

Regal’s 38 Grande Coupe may be the little sister to the 42 but it is loaded with all of the cruising features of a boat much larger.
