Sea Ray and Sundancer. It seems these two words have been synonymous for almost as long as pleasure boats have been made from fibreglass. Of the thirty-eight Sea Ray models offered for 2012 from eighteen to sixty-one feet, aside from the seventeen models of Sport Boats up to thirty feet, of the remaining twenty-one models of Cruisers, Sport Yachts, and Yachts, a full eighteen of these are Sundancer models. That's how important the Sundancer name is to Sea Ray, one of the perennially largest manufacturers of pleasure boats in the world.
The 410 Sundancer® is new for Sea Ray for 2012. It is one of six of Sea Ray's Sport Yachts offerings ranging from thirty-nine to fifty-one feet, five of which are Sundancer's, the other being the 450 Sedan Bridge. In Sea Ray's own words, "The all-new 410 Sundancer is the very essence of a Sea Ray Sport Yacht. Among its impressive design features, this express cruiser is available in sport spoiler, open hardtop and enclosed hardtop versions, allowing owners to choose their preferred style."
Cockpit space, seating amount and flexibility, and entertaining amenities and possibilities are all essential components of mid-cabin express cruisers and yachts, and in these areas, the 410 Sundancer shines. Entering the cockpit from the large integrated fibreglass swim platform, you are greeted by a huge starboard-side U-shaped lounge that by itself will accommodate virtually as many as you would want aboard the 410 at any given time. The transom portion backrest of this lounge swings open to convert this section of the lounge to a large double-wide sunpad. A table with dedicated storage is standard and may be upgraded to high-gloss teak.
Opposite this lounge on the port side is an L-shaped wet bar with sink, Corian® counter top, trash receptacle, and carry-on cooler. A built-in grill is optional. A built-in ice bucket is standard as is an icemaker or upgrade it to a drawer-style refrigerator. Forward of this is a three or four-seater raised lounge opposite the helm. The captain and first mate are pampered with a double-wide helm seat with armrests, integrated flip-up "thigh-rise" bolsters, contoured side bolsters, fore and aft adjustment and pneumatic vertical adjustment. Cockpit options you may wish to consider include air conditioning/heating, a 22" flatscreen w/DVD player, and upgraded stereo.
The high-tech control station at the helm of the 410 Sundancer includes custom Sea Ray® SmartCraft® diagnostics with low glare blue night lighting, twin 4-in-1 multigauges, tachs, plus SmartCraft VesselView® display with vessel and propulsion status plus environmental, and navigation data. A full complement of Raymarine® navigation electronics is optionally available to satisfy whatever your particular boating requirements. SmartCraft® Digital Throttle & Shift (DTS) controls are also standard for the twin 425 hp Cummins Mercruiser® diesel V-drives or choose the twin 380 hp Cummins Mercruiser diesels with Zeus Propulsion System with helm Joystick control. A 9.0 kW Onan® diesel generator with SmartCraft® interface is standard.
Choose from three available overhead options for the cockpit of the 410. Standard is a fibreglass Sport Spoiler with your choice of blue, black, or taupe Sunbrella® bimini, front, side, and aft curtains. Perhaps choose the open fibreglass hardtop with vent hatch, or the enclosed fibreglass hardtop bonded to the windshield with radar arch, electric front vents, and overhead vent hatch and with available sunroof with manually retractable canvas top.
Two heads are standard inside the 410 Sundancer; a day head aft and one with separate shower accessible from the forward stateroom. Two cabin layouts are also available. The standard layout is the more traditional convertible mid-berth with facing seating which converts to a double berth with a privacy curtain. Optionally available is an enclosed mid-stateroom with privacy door. This option shortens the Ultraleather™ salon sofa from a three to a two-seater. Entertainment in the salon is provided by a Sony® AM/FM/CD with Sirius® satellite receiver, amplifier, four cabin and four cockpit speakers, subwoofer, MP3 and gaming system ports, iPod interface, plus a 32" flatscreen with DVD.
The forward stateroom features a full-size, island-style bed with Visco elastic foam mattress, Posturepedic® backrest and an electrically-actuated extension. A 22" flatscreen with DVD is standard here. Choose from three packages of interior fabric and finish options starting with cabinets and countertop finish which determines the corresponding fabrics and floor tile for the head. Then choose from the standard or optional carpeting or wood flooring and complete the process by picking a preferred window covering. When completed, your interior will be fully coordinated.
In the words of Sea Ray founder C.N. Ray, "It's not the one big thing. It's the thousand 'little things' we do that make Sea Ray the best."
