Boat Review by: Richard Crowder
Lund’s popular Impact XS series of four family recreational fishing boats has been almost completely renewed for 2018 with new sixteen and seventeen foot models and this totally new 1875 which replaces the former 1850 and which rides on a brand new hull which is four inches longer and two inches wider. It is also built to handle big water fishing and cruising with a maximum cockpit depth of 24 inches. The 2025 is the fourth model in the Impact XS series for 2018.
The “XS” designation in the Impact XS series denotes extra seating plus extra sporty features and is part of Lund’s Fish & Sport category of five series of recreational fishing models as opposed to the Impact series without the “XS” designation which offers three models with either side consoles or full windshields and is part of Lund’s eleven series in its extensive Core Fishing category. The Impact XS models are only available with dual consoles and full windshields with the center opening walk-thru capability.
To augment its recreational, cruising, and “sporty” attributes, the 1875 Impact XS offers available seating for six persons and recommended horsepower ranging from 90 minimum to 150 maximum. This power range provides approximate top speed from 35 to 52 mph which is perfect for getting to the next fishing or swimming hole quickly or to facilitate all manner of watersports activities such as skiing, wake or knee boarding, or tubing.
The standard model 1875 Impact XS provides you with the basics of what you would want for fishing or cruising and then you can option it up to your heart’s content to outfit it precisely for the activities that you enjoy the most. Standard equipment for all activities includes analog instrumentation, LED interior lighting, vinyl cockpit floor with carpeted decks fore and aft, drink holders, stainless steel fold-down cleats, dry storage compartments in the foredeck, aft deck, and side gunnel, six floor-mounted seat bases with three standard contoured seats provided; the driver’s on a fixed pedestal plus two others on movable pedestals, two flip-up stern jump seats plus a ShoreLand’r black painted bunk trailer with swing tongue and tongue jack. There are five standard hull colours from which to choose. A standard four-step flush-mounted folding boarding ladder makes in-water re-boarding a breeze.
The fishing enthusiast will enjoy the two standard aerated livewells with auto-timer; a 38 inch, 24 gallon (US) in the aft deck and a 27 inch long, 11 gallon (US) in the foredeck. Of course, even if this is a day for cruising or recreation, these livewells make perfect coolers for your chosen beverages. A bow trolling motor harness with plug is also standard equipment. The fisherman will also enjoy the lockable center foredeck rod storage compartment complete with ten tubes, the lockable port side rod storage and the starboard side rod storage compartments.
Now let’s option your Lund 1875 Impact XS to optimize your fun on the water. Whether you are more into fishing or more into recreational enjoyment, you can choose from seven hull side graphics, a bimini top, complete top set, travel cover, instrumentation upgrades, stereo, power, hydraulic, and tilt steering upgrades, engine pre-rig for Mercury or Honda, additional ProRide or Pilots seats with or without AirRide suspension, plus lots of trailer upgrades and trailer accessories.
The ardent fisherman will simply drool at the sheer magnitude of available options to make his or her sport so much more fun and enjoyable. Choose from several Minnkota or MotorGuide bow or stern-mounted trolling motors, Mercury or Honda kicker motors or simply pre-rigs for the kicker of your choice, a huge selection of bow or console-mounted Humminbird or Lowrance GPS, fishfinder, and sonar units, 2 and 3-bank Pro and Recreational onboard battery chargers, Lund’s proprietary Sport Trak gunnel accessory mounting bracket with a multiple selection of various holders, a bow-mounted bait station, plus port and starboard On the Go Rod storage.
