KingFisher builds some serious boats. In total, KingFisher offers thirty-four models from sixteen to thirty-four feet in five series. You can tell just by looking that its Offshore and Coastal series boats are designed and built for serious boating; big water coastal, offshore, and big inland lake boating.

The first clue to this is in the commercial-looking forward-sloping of the pilothouse windshields designed to reduce glare and to shed bow spray quickly. On closer inspection, you will determine that these all-welded aluminum hulls use a heavier gauge in not only their one-piece hull bottoms but also in the hull sides. They all incorporate KingFisher’s proprietary Pre-Flex® hull design technology.

To accommodate not only big water fishing but also diving and perhaps hauling of people, equipment, and supplies, the 2625 Coastal Express features a full-beam flat unobstructed cockpit that is nine feet long. Within its floor is a pair of 53-gallon fish lockers with pumpouts and centred on the transom is a 35-gallon fish locker with cutting board top, aft fish rail, and storage compartment to port.

On the starboard side, a transom section is hinged inward part way up and incorporating a built-in two step staircase providing easier access to the full-width swim platform. A pair of full length side storage shelves on each side of the cockpit provides lots of space to locate loose, easy to grab necessities.

A bow anchor rope locker with hawse pipe and anchor roller is provided as are foul weather bow coamings, stainless steel bow and aft cockpit grab rails, and serious nine-inch welded mooring cleats. The eight foot long pilothouse cabin with flat vinyl floor level with the cockpit offers six-foot, two-inch headroom and large surrounding windows for great sightlines.

The two windshield sections each are fitted with an articulated wiper and the forward side windows are opening with screens. There is one more additional fixed window on each side of the cabin and three more windows in the aft cabin buklhead including one within the lockable cabin door. The hardtop features overhead and side storage trays and more storage is found within the cabin floor and under the foredeck which is accessible from within the cabin.

The dash is large and functional with lots of room on its upper face for flush-mounting of two large screens. Hydraulic steering with a stainless steel wheel is standard as is a 12-volt accessory outlet, dual USB outlet, and port side lockable glove box. Additional analog or digital instrumentation will depend on your choice of brand of outboard power up to 300 horsepower maximum. Aluminum trim tabs with indicators are standard.

Seating comfort is critical in heavy seas and KingFisher takes its seating seriously. Standard helm and passenger seating is with a pair of Fishmaster XL seats on aluminum box bases with storage within. You may then optionally upgrade to a pair of Pro Angler seats, to a pair of Rivermaster seats, and then upgrade these again with Shockwave suspension and add swivel capabilities.

Aft of these helm seats you may optionally add a 42-inch bench seat to either or both cabin sides. Each bench has storage beneath the seat cushion. You may then upgrade each or both of these with a bed conversion kit or choose the porta-potti or marine head upgrade with privacy curtain to one of these bench seats. You may choose a tan or grey combination colour scheme for the upholstery while the decks and upper interior walls are speckle painted in your choice of grey or white. Lower cabin walls are carpet covered.

You have eleven choices of hullside paint which will then be matched on the cabin roof cap. This paint may be upgraded to Armor Coat or to two-tone choices, a waterline (bootstripe) upgrade, and epoxy hull bottom paint. You may also add a Premium Hi-Polish package. Tinted cabin side windows are available as is a digital stereo package, bow pulpit with anchor windlass, raw water washdown, diamond plate cockpit flooring, and a fuel tank upgrade to 125 USG.

An aluminum cockpit roof extension is available as are handy stainless steel exterior cabin roof rails, stainless transom rail, and even an upgrade to a quarter-inch hull bottom. An EZ Loader galvanized tandem axle bunk trailer is provided standard.

This KingFisher 2625 Coastal Express looks the part of a serious, no-nonsense big water boat and is indeed designed, built, and equipped to be exactly that. Take it wherever and whenever you want to go to do whatever you want to. It will be there for you.
